THE LATEST... Thursday  24/07/2008

Hello
Welcome to the AIM website where you will find an abundance of resources, contacts and practical advice for independent record labels.

Here at AIM we have some great events and initiatives planned for members over the coming months. This year we have already held an event looking at the live music sector, as well as our famous Music Connected digital day - the UK's largest 1-day digital music trade fair. Still to come this year we have events on synchronisation licensing, music marketing on a shoestring and much more.

We also recently celebrated the first annual 'Independents Day' on July 4th - a global celebration of independent music. With activity around the day including an auction of independent music memorabilia and experiences, a wealth of TV and radio support for independent music, and a highly sought after compilation album of great independent music - July 4th was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the creativity and talent of the independent sector.

Thanks for visiting the AIM website. Whether you are a member or just interested in AIM and independent music, we hope you find our website an interesting and valuable resource.

Label of the Month

Our label of the month is Rough Trade

Rough Trade is not only a fantastic record label, but a top class independent music retailer too. In the current climate of falling music sales many retailers have sadly closed their doors, but Rough Trade has found its niche and is thriving.

Last summer they opened the UK's largest record shop, Rough Trade East on London's Brick Lane, providing an outlet for labels and acts that don’t yet have distribution deals, as well as the releases of more established talent.

The store is fast becoming a destination for music fans; a place to discover new music, socialise, watch performances and hang out. The store is great news for music producers and music fans alike.
